Context/Comments
This house was built as a model home by Home Haven On the Gulf, Inc., developers of the Miramar Subdivision. It was purchased by Glenn Swetman, President of the People's Bank. Upon his death the house and the collection of art it contained were bequeathed to the City of Biloxi for use as a local history museum. From 2006 to 2015, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, it served as the MDAH Gulf Coast Field Office.

It was individually listed on the National Register on 18 May 1984, as a component of the "Historic Resources of Biloxi." It was designated a Mississippi Landmark on 9 October 2003.

It is included in "The Buildings of Biloxi" (1976, p. 156 [as 2770 Wilkes Avenue], and 2000/2010, p. 148 [as 1596 Glenn Swetman Drive]).
