CONTEXT/COMMENTS
Built in 1928, the Sherman Line School was built as a school for African American students in grades 1 through 8 in the vicinity of the Sherman community in Amite and Pike Counties. It is significant as a surviving example of a school built to a standardized plan used for schools funded by the Rosenwald Fund.<P> This building was listed on the National Register on 12 January 2017. It was designated a Mississippi Landmark on 15 September 2016.
