Brief Description
300 Third Street is a two-story, rectangular plan, raised, wood frame Craftsman structure that is supported by poured concrete piers, is clad with clapboards and stucco, and is sheltered by a side gable roof sheathed with pressed metal panels. Character defining elements include two-story primary elevation foundation piers (which have a "key" motif in them), dual curved stairways leading from grade to the first floor, a full-width shed porch, facade fenestration being composed solely of seven doors, a frieze composed of three-light windows, and exposed rafter tails.
Historic Information
300 Third Street is the oldest remaining school structure in Bay St. Louis. It also is a character defining architectural element within the Third and Citizen street corridors.
