Brief Description
400 North Second Street is a two-story Spanish Revival school building with a flat roof, rear addition, scalloped parapet, belt course, and terracotta roofed awnings. The main entrance is accented by low-relief ornamentation, three stories of pilasters, and paired arched windows. It has a continuous brick foundation, stucco cladding, and 9/9 vinyl double-hung windows with faux mullions.
Historic Information
Bay High School was constructed in 1927 at a cost of $80,000. It was designed by New Orleans architect William T. Nolan and represents the modernization of Mississippi's public education system in the 1920s.
