Built in 1934 and dedicated in 1936, the Georgetown [United] Methodist Church is a rare surviving example of a small wood-frame church building with vernacular Craftsman Style features (such as exposed rafter tails in the overhanging side eaves and simple triangular "knee-brace" brackets in the front eaves) that are more commonly associated with Craftsman bungalows. This building was listed on the National Register on 19 January 2016, from a nomination prepared by Tricia Nelson. In its vernacular Craftsman Style architectural character, it is similar to the Hillsboro Methodist Church (123-FOR-3102-NR) near Forest in Scott County, which was built in 1928. |
