The similarity of this church to the Church of Our Savior in Iuka and Holy Innocents Church in Como suggest that, like them, it may have been designed by James B. Cook and built by Andrew Johnson. Both men were doing work in and around Sardis at this time. The first building was destroyed by a tornado in 1890, and was rebuilt in 1890-91. The second building burned in 1910, and was replaced by a third building, which was demolished in 1932 after the congregation had become defunct. Included in the Inventory of the Church Archives of Mississippi – Protestant Episcopal Church – Diocese of Mississippi (1940) (#49, pp. 79-80). |
