The former Mt. Moriah School, now Mt. Moriah Community Center, was built in 1931 as a rural school for African American students. The one-story, rusticated concrete-block building closely matches the standardized plan #4-EM-8 from a set of plans developed by the State Department of Education’s Division of School Building Service beginning in the late 1920s. Mt. Moriah School was listed on the National Register on 5 June 2017. It is mentioned in "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (p. 302, in the listing for Ginntown School [Walthall County Training School], PW2). |
