The two-story front portion of this house with its ornate double gallery was added in 1875 by local architect and builder James Clark Harris. The house is listed as a contributing element of the Carrollton Historic District, which was placed on the National Register in 1978. It is included in "Old Homes of Mississippi, Volume II: Columbus and the North" (1977) (pp. 136-137, as the B.F. Johnston House), "Victorian Houses of Mississippi" (2005) (p. 33), and "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (p.95, YB48). |
