Built in 1906, the Confederate Monument at the University of Mississippi is a stone statue of a soldier standing in a lookout posture atop a tall sculptured obelisk-like shaft on a castelated pedestal, on a stepped base. It was recorded for “Save Outdoor Sculpture”[SOS-LAF-002]. It is a component of the Lyceum - The Circle Historic District, which was designated a National Historic Landmark on 6 October 2008. It was designated a Mississippi Landmark in 2011.
