Brief Description
ca. 1875, two story, 7-bay (WWWW, DD, D, W,W,W,D), stucco coated masonry, 19th century Commercial style building. Flat roof with elastomeric coating, stepped parapet wall with metal coping, corbeled cornice. Ground floor has two storefronts. One on the left is bank of fixed light display windows, the right side has paired, folding windows with single vertical light and one-panel. Added, two-story porch has chamfered posts on concrete bases on first floor, 2nd floor has box wood columns, and block balusters
supporting flat roof. Right storefront has an metal stand up seam shed roof above it but under the porch Ground floor center entry has replacement wood door with one light and one panel and Classical Revival surround and topped with arched lintel. The left off-center entrance is paired, commercial
single-light glass doors. The right entrance is on the end and is a replacement single-light, one panel single door. The 2nd floor has five doors (D,D, DDDD,D,D). The single doors are 6-light wood with Colonial Revival surrounds. The center entry has paired, multillght wood doors flanked by
single, multillght wood doors.
Historic Information
This building was originally the Oxford Opera House and was Romanesque
in style. It suffered a fire in the 1940s which radically changed the façade
when it was rebuilt.
