Context/Comments
A seven-by-four bay, two-story brick commercial block. The storefront retains its cast-iron piers. This building was constructed c.1906 at the behest of Philip Feld, a prominent merchant and alderman in Vicksburg.

This building was included as a contributing element (element #5) in the Main Street Historic District, which was placed on the National Register on 16 April 1979, from a nomination prepared by MDAH architectural historian Adele Cramer.

This building is mentioned in the "Historic Vicksburg Walking Tour Guide" (1987) (in the comments for the Kette Block, #53, p. 43).

Brief Description
Two-story commercial building (with basement) of masonry construction with flat-roof. Main facade is symmetrical and faces southeast, consisting of two recessed storefronts, separated by a central door. Each storefront consists of a two-panel door with large light above flanked by three large display windows with bulkhead below. Central door is replacement one-panel. Each bay is separated by cast-iron ornamentation consisting of two fluted engaged columns in the center, and two fluted pilasters at the corners. The upper level has its original windows, which are 2/2 arched wood DHS. Sawtooth cornice above.
