This building is the surviving outbuilding outbuilding of "Concord" (001-NAT-4005-X), suburban estate dating from the 1790s. The main house and another outbuilding were destroyed by fire in 1901. This surviving building served as the slave quarters for the estate. This building was listed on the National Register on 24 January 2019. The listed property, consisting of 1.54 acres, also contains the site of the main house.
