Context/Comments
This "Carpenter Gothic" church was built in 1853 by Jacob Larmour, reportedly from a design by noted Ecclesiological architect Frank Wills of New York.

It is included in the "Inventory of the Church Archives of Mississippi – Protestant Episcopal Church – Diocese of Mississippi" (1940) (#25, p. 63), "Shrines to Tomorrow" (1971), "Historic Churches of Mississippi" (2007) (p. 20), and "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (p. 229, JM3).

Brief Description
A one-story, double height, wood frame, symmetrical, Carpenter Gothic Style church, facing south. Stucco chain wall foundation. Front gable roof with boxed eaves is covered in asphalt shingles. Building is clad in board and batten siding. Windows are diamond pane, leaded light, in pointed arch openings. A centered, projecting tower on the front of the building and the side walls have buttresses. The tower and front wall have pinnacles. The front door is wood, with three vertical panels and an arched transom matching the door panels below. Above the doorway is a stucco circle, which within is a metal and glass cross with trilobed arms. At the top of the tower are two wood louvered vents with an arched top. To the east of the building and set back to the rear is a one story addition, with a cross gable roof covered in asphalt shingles. It uses board and batten siding on the front elevation and clapboards on the side. Windows are wood DHS six-over-six. A centered shed roof porch is supported by two metal posts with vine motif protect to wood double doors. Concrete steps and deck.
