World-renowned entertainer Elvis Presley (1935-1977) was born in this modest wood-frame shotgun house on 8 January 1935, and resided here until he moved with his family to Memphis in 1948. It was designated a Mississippi Landmark in 1996 at the request of the owners, the Elvis Presley Birthplace Foundation.
