Designed by architect E.L. Malvaney of Jackson, this Art Deco courthouse was built in 1935-36 under the auspices of the Public Works Administration (PWA Project Miss. 1042). It was designated a Mississippi Landmark in 1996, and it is listed as a contributing element (element #3) in the Carthage Historic District, which was placed on the National Register in 2012.
