Brief Description
The 2-story brick City Hall is cleverly sited at on a corner parcel fronting the heart of the central business district. It is irregularly shaped with a rounded corner at the southeast where a recessed, cornered entrance is located. The northwest corner is pointed at an approximate 45-degree angle. The roof is a broad, truncated hip, with a semi-circular roof at the southwest corner above the entrance bay. The roof features broad overhanging, bracketed eaves. The principal entryway is recessed with a side pilasters and round Tuscan limestone, or cast concrete, columns. The door is 2-leaf, glazed and paneled with sidelights and transom. Windows are single, paired, or tripartite, 1-over-1, DH wood sash with single-light transom above. The window fenestrations are the same on both floors. The building rests on stuccoed masonry foundation with coursed bands. At the rear, the basement is raised and a secondary entrance leads to the ground level.
