Designed by architectural firm of Jones & Haas, of Jackson, and completed in 1949, this building was built as the third location of Alamo Theater, a combination cinema and performing arts venue that served the black community of Jackson. It is included within the Farish Street Neighborhood Historic District, which was placed on the National Register on 13 March 1980. The Alamo Theater was designated a Mississippi Landmark on 19 January 1994 at the request of the owners. This building is included in "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (p. 251, JM34). |
