This International-style hospital has undergone considerable additions and modifications. A large portion of the original building is concealed behind later additions. The building is four to five stories in height with a flat roof, smooth cream-colored concrete exterior, and an emphasis on the horizontal. The first floor on the façade of the original building appears to be recessed slightly with round columns. The upper floors are distinguished by rows of windows in sets of two. The windows are not historic, single light fixed sash. A large-scale curvilinear addition, two-stories in height with a flat roof, extends from the façade (west). Inset in the southwest ell is a four-story original projecting block that has white square panels above and below a ribbon window of fixed lights. A portion of the north wing reveals rows of windows comprised of paired, four (horizontal) metal awnings or hoppers. Similarly, the rear wing has rows of windows separated by wide concrete courses (Hill-Burton Survey, 2019). |
