This building was built between 1934 and 1936 to serve as the barracks for the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Biloxi. It later became the Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum. It was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina on 29 August 2005. It was designated a Mississippi Landmark on 15 July 1999. It is pictured in "Musing through Towns in Mississippi" (1999) (p. 118) and "Maritime Biloxi (Images of America)" (2000) (p. 117). There is information about U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Biloxi in "Biloxi (Images of America)" (2009) (pp. 54-55). A new Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum was built at this location in 2014. |
